Steve Johnson

I liked these two books. Doug Orlando is a conflicted New York City detective with a past, and that gives him a lot of psychological depth. According to jacket copy, Johnson is a UCLA graduate in English Literature who lives in Los Angeles, where he is currently writing Doug's next adventure. I'm waiting!

Final Atonement

Doug Orlando investigates the murder of a right-wing rabbi. He's a tough cop, but there's some nice interplay with his long-time lover Stewart, a teacher, and some good New York color.

False Confessions

Doug goes a little more out on a limb here, as his search for a serial killers force him into some gay bars and situations where he feels less than comfortable. Strongly written.
